The current Miss England Dr Bhasha Mukherjee has created a video pleading for help for the Hope foundation to buy much needed hospital equipment .
Speaking from her home in between working shifts at the Royal Derby hospital, Bhasha is asking her instagram followers for help with the Covid Crisis in India.
“I can’t begin to think what people in India are going through right now seeing the family and friends and loved ones suffer like they are now ” says Bhasha in her video.
Bhasha still has lots of family in Kolkata India where the charity is based and was born there herself. She lived in India until she was 9 & as an immigrant family moved to England with her brother mum and dad. She shared a house with other immigrant families when she first came to England & started work at a Doctor the day after winning the Miss England crown.
In the video, Bhasha talks about much needed equipment such as heart monitors and ventilators needed for a hospital to help save lives.
Bhasha represented England at the 69th Miss World in December 2019 & has since visited India on a humanitarian project for the Coventry Lions Clubs. She was rescued by the British foreign office after being stranded in the country when Lockdown began early 2020 and then returned to her work as an NHS frontline doctor where she’s been working since treating patients with Covid – 19.
SELF DEFENCE
During the pandemic, along with working full time for the NHS, Bhasha has continued to serve as a Virtual Miss England creating her own virtual confidence and training courses , and more recently self defence videos demonstrating with her instructor to help protect women walking alone. The videos appear on the Miss England App on its new saftey and awareness section.
Bhasha has also joined the judging panel for the Virtual Miss England heats on the Miss England App to help choose the Finalists.
Now the longest serving Miss England after the final was postponed 3 times during 2020, Bhasha will be crowning her successor in June 24th at The Heart of England Coventry.
