Its been three years since “Tia Carter”  was crowned Miss Leicestershire 2020 by her own sister “Sapphire Carter ”  in her back garden during lockdown .  Luckily “Sapphire” was available to crown Tia, she was the former Miss Leicestershire who had also represented the county at the Miss England final!

At the time “Tia” now 21 was just a teenager, & was studying engineering.

Tia said back then : ‘I’m over the moon to have won. I’ve always looked up to my big sister Sapphire and to win my home county title is fantastic! It’s a shame the live event was cancelled but I’m grateful for the opportunity, as there were some great girls in the virtual contest. it certainly put a smile on my face and competing in a virtual Miss England heat and gave us something to focus on at a difficult time.”

During Tia’s reign, £6,000 was donated using Miss World Ethos “Beauty with a Purpose”  to the Y Charity to sponsor a House in Leicester for homeless youngsters .

Since , Tia has represented Leicestershire TWICE in the finals of Miss England after winning national TALENT award with her exciting cultural dance routine in 2021 & she made the shortlist which gave her the opportunity to compete again the following year .

Despite not winning the Miss England title in 2022, Tia did room share with the winning finalist  “Jessica Gagen” herself studying aerospace engineering and the national 2021 Miss England contest raised over £44,000 which Tia proudly contributed to by holding her own charity events locally.

Tia said “Id still love to be an advocate for children and adults that struggle with dyslexia. Having dyslexia myself I know how challenging it can be for young people , however since school, I have gone on to do an Engineering access course.”

Director of Miss England Angie Beasley is based in Leicester and first started to run the Miss Leicestershire contest way back in 1990 when she first came to live in the area as a way of getting to know people locally.

” We used to run the local contest every year but since the pandemic its been difficult to try and get things back on track .   Ive been focusing on the Miss England event which was held in Birmingham in 2022.   We havent had a live event in Leicestershire  since 2019 when it was held at Leicester Tigers.

Tia has been a wonderful charitable representative and has got involved with some great projects during her time such as the World Against Single Use Plastic campaign and raised funds for Beauty with a Purpose which helps disadvantaged children and young people across the world. Locally it was the Beauty With a Purpose Charity which sponsored a House in Leicestershire for a whole year for local youngsters to live  in so its definately worth bringing back the contest. Over the past few years Tia has also been invited to perform as a dancer at events for the Coventry Mercia Lions . “

Now the search is on to find Tia’s successor with a LIVE catwalk style final set to be held at Kibworth Grammar School Hall on 2nd September .  But first selected contestants will be invited to audition at Stu Williamsons photographic studio in Kibworth where this years final catwalk is going to be staged .
