A month has passed since a lifeguard from the South West of England achieved the prestigious title of Miss England. Milla Magee, who made history as the first-ever size sixteen winner of Miss England, is working closely with We Do Ethical, fuelling her passion for environmentalism to promote sustainable living at the heart of her dedication to safeguarding the future of our people, the planet, and animals for generations to come.

The 23-year-old (Pictured seated) was crowned at the national final event held at The Grand Station in Wolverhampton on May 17th. Milla, from Newquay and the god-daughter of Meg Matthews, Noel Gallagher’s ex-wife, triumphed over 39 other contestants from across the nation and will now represent England in the upcoming Miss World Final.

“Milla is not only spreading positivity about environmentalism through supporting our bi-weekly toiletries outreach and litter picks, she is also dedicated to promoting body positivity and advocating for CPR training to become mandatory within schools.” Kelly Levell, founder of We Do Ethical.

In addition to her advocacy and charity work, Milla’s mission is to inspire people to live a more sustainable lifestyle and inspire people to be the change they wish to see in our world by sharing simple lifestyle tips and knowledge with the public throughout her own journey. She aims to be a beacon of hope for those who may feel discouraged by societal beauty standards, emphasising that anyone can achieve their dreams with belief, passion, and enthusiasm. As Miss England, Milla is also championing her initiative “GOFARWITHCPR,” which advocates for mandatory CPR and first aid training in schools.

Milla secured a spot among the top 12 contestants by winning the ‘We Do Ethical Fashion Queen Award.’ Her dedication to sustainable fashion impressed Kelly Levell, the head fashion judge and Director of Miss England Southwest. Milla’s commitment to eco-friendly style was highlighted by her recycled outfit, inspired by 1920s travel wear and accessorised with a vintage hat and suitcase. Crafted by using 10 items or less, not only earned Milla the prestigious award but also marked the 10th anniversary of We Do Ethical’s collaboration with Miss England. Their joint effort aims to promote clothing recycling through contestants’ informative video entries, which are showcased on social networks and shared with over 300 schools across the country to inspire others to follow suit.

Milla joined Kelly on stage to collect her £1000 ethical hamper prize, packed full of goodies from ethical lifestyle brands including Upcircle Beauty, Spa Ved, Beauty Zana, and Ooak One Of A Kind Clothing. Milla and Kelly stood together to announce the outstanding winners of the other ethical award categories during the event. 

Mary-Anna Jennings, aged 21, is a Miss Linconshire titleholder and firefighter, she received the ‘We Do Ethical Queen Award’ for her dedication to raising awareness of environmental issues, collecting tree planting pledges, and promoting values central to the organisation. Working in a male-led industry, Mary-Anna passion is to empower and encourage younger generations to pursue roles that create equality and protect the well-being of people, the planet, and animals.

Holly Poulton, aged 9 and based in Kent was inspired to participate in tree planting initiatives after Theron Mahoney ( pictured below) , aged 10 and based in London, received the ‘We Do Ethical Child Award’ in 2022. This year, both Holly and Theron were honoured to be awarded as winners, with their trophies and ethical prize hampers for their exceptional efforts. Theron was also presented with a handwritten letter of commendation from Sir David Attenborough for his remarkable achievements, including his involvement in the Urban Forest Tree Planting for HTB Church, where he helped plant 1,400 trees. Theron was named ‘Friday’s Climate Figure’ by the New Jersey Institute of Nature for his significant climate change work and he serves as a Community Ambassador at his school.

Manoj Agrawal, aged 62 Pictured with other WeDoEthical winners  and based in Brighton, received the prestigious ‘We Do Ethical Business Award.’

This accolade recognises his company’s remarkable achievement in reducing over 1 million tons of carbon emissions annually. The success stems from their implementation of multi-disciplinary in-house design specialising in Signalling, Telecom, Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), and Electrical & Power (E&P) for Mainline, Metro, and Tram systems. With exceptional delivery capabilities, they have completed more than 115 projects over the past 20 years; with longstanding clients such as Network Rail, Transport for London, Ericsson, Kier, and Alstom

Jennifer Carless, aged 20, received the ‘We Do Ethical Human Award’ for her unwavering commitment to sustainable living. She has contributed significantly to environmental preservation by planting over 500 trees at her local riding school, providing shelter for the animals there. Additionally, for the past three years, she has been a dedicated advocate for a ‘world against single-use plastics’, successfully engaging over 120 major stakeholders and foreign governments in promoting positive environmental change through conducting litter picks and workshops with young people.

Rebekah Watkins, 26, from Goole achieved a remarkable feat by reaching the Miss England semi finals of the awards by receiving the prestigious Bare Face- We Do Ethical Queen Award at the world’s first makeup-free beauty pageant held at the Taj Hotel in London on September 29th 2023.    At the semi finals , Rebekah won the Talent award with her Saxophone performance of Baker Street with her dad at Viva Blackpool which fast tracked Rebekah in to the Miss England finals. 

Known for her distinctive attire of a high-visibility vest and hard hat, Rebekah dedicates her full-time efforts to restoring heritage sites, through her own non for profit business           Dream Heritage thus revitalising community spaces through building restoration. Beyond her professional endeavours.

 Rebekah advocates for sustainable fashion, not only by modelling eco-friendly clothing but also by modelling careers, serving as an inspiring role model for young women navigating career choices.  

This summer, Milla will join Kelly and the other ethical award winners, along with the rest of the team, in a visit to Bournemouth to participate in another of We Do Ethical’s Well-being Days. Partaking in outreach initiatives to help keep the local community clean, green, and safe. The well-being activities on the day will include a life-saving lesson in CPR, a toiletries handout to the homeless, and a beach cleanup, followed by a fun-filled mud bath and sea dip!
