Press release – January 2025
Deborah Brand has always been a fashion visionary & now she will showcase her designs on the most glamorous global stage of all, “Miss World”.
Always inspired by celebrating the female form, emphasising the desirable hour-glass figure continues to fascinate Deborah. Corsetry is a specialised skill that allows her to create exceptional pieces that have included a corset embellished with 20,000 Swarovski crystals and a feathered ensemble that took over 600 hours to make using a combination of ethically sourced plumage.
Deborah Brand Corsets has had the pleasure of designing for global style icons from Amal Clooney, Kim Kardashian and Cynthia Erivo to Billie Eilish and Salma Hayek.
Now Milla Magee the reigning Miss England has chosen Deborah to create her special main gown for the grand final of the 72nd Miss World competition.
Milla said “ Miss World is a once in a lifetime opportunity & I really want to feel special. To showcase this talented British designer on the world stage will also be such an honour and I really hope England can win the best designer award, a separate award in the competition between designers across the world.”
Deborah will be working directly with Milla to create the incredible couture gown which will be revealed on the Miss World stage when Milla represents England.
Deborah said “Since I’ve been working with Milla and the Miss England team I’ve learnt so much about the organisation, how far it’s come in the last decade and how much “Beauty with a Purpose” can effect change for the better. I’m beyond honoured to represent my country and can’t wait to show the world what we’ve created. “
Deborah started designing in 1990 when, with her partner, she created Sub Couture a cult fashion label famous for its stretch lycra dresses and through the 90’s the label became international. Stocked in over 100 accounts throughout the world including Nordstrom and Barneys in the US Joyce in the far East and Harrods in the UK. Their flagship store was in Notting Hill and they had stores in Hyper Hyper and Selfridges. In 2000 Deborah moved to NYC and launched Deborah Brand with a fashion show at New York fashion week with all the supermodels of that time including Cover Girls Kiara Kabukuru, Maybelines Tomiko Fraser and Adrianna Lima. Following a horse riding accident in 2008 Deborah developed a corset to help her walk again and ease the pain during her recovery. Her corsets consist of over 100 components and an unprecedented 45 bones in 5 consistencies are utilised to create the ultimate Deborah Brand corset.
However, Deborah understands the daunting prospect of getting into a corset, hence she has developed her famed under bust ‘Mila’ Corset which can easily be slipped on and laced in under 60 seconds and removed in under 30 seconds! Her corsets comfortably reduce the waist measurements by 2 inches and up to 5 inches for the very dedicated.
Deborah’s fashion sense, combined with the highest level of craft, create the most pre-eminent corsets.
