Bal’s story: (in his words)

“I was honoured to be in the Mr. England 2024 Final and win the public vote award.

Mr England is a platform whereby I passionately advocating for equal opportunities in education for all young people. I believe education has the power to transform lives and all should have equal opportunities.

Bal on Graduation Day

My journey began at a state school, where despite the odds, I achieved 7 A*s in my exams. One of the proudest moments for my parents, who immigrated from Punjab, India in their twenties, was when I received an interview invitation from Cambridge University. I continued my academic journey at Loughborough University, where I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Stillwater, Oklahoma and earn a diploma in International Studies.

I later graduated with a First Class Honours in Economics BSc from Loughborough University. Upon graduating, I‘ve been fortunate to work at one of the world’s largest firms, Deloitte, whereby I am now an Assistant Manager. My journey from a state school to a global firm is a testament to the power of education and opportunity.

CRICKET

Beyond my professional career, I am actively involved in the community. I play semi-professional cricket in Division One of Oxford’s Cherwell league.

At work, I had the privilege of captaining my team in the annual Deloitte Prague Football Tournament, leading us to the knockout semi-finals.

I am also the youngest grade to facilitate at the new Analyst Deloitte Academy this year which is a recognition of my character and personality that seniors (Directors and Partners) have recognised at work.

CHARITABLE ENDEAVOURS

I also volunteer for hours to help children with reading whom require additional assistance .  I am also involved in the ‘book drive’ club whereby books and funds are donated to children in need, furthering my commitment to education whilst at work. In addition to this, I frequently return to my former school to give talks, hoping I can change someone’s life.

Travelling:

Outside of work, I am passionate about traveling. I love the sense of adventure, meeting new people, and having new experiences. I’ve solo backpacked numerous times, most recently exploring Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia. My love for traveling stems from a childhood desire to explore, but my family often spent our six-week summer holidays visiting family in India which was still great at the time! Since starting my career, I’ve had the freedom to pursue this dream and explore the world on my terms. In the past five years, I have traveled to over 20 countries and plan to continue this journey. Traveling broadens your horizons and makes you more open-minded. Along the way, you meet wonderful people and make new friends and create countless stories to share in the future. Money spent on travelling, seeing the world and meeting new people is never wasted.

BALLS TO CANCER  In the Mr. England competition, I also raised funds  for the Balls to cancer charity, a cause very close to my heart as my grandmother passed away from cancer. Also because ‘1 in 2 people in the U.K. will be affected by cancer’. This is in addition to the previous volunteering and charity work that I do.”

The Mr. England Final took place at The City Rooms Leicester on August 20th. Twelve finalists took part in a series of photoshoots interview and a a catwalk modelling Scotneys of London Road Menswear before the winner was announced . Bal was sponsored by KLASSIC in the competition .
