My name is Melissa Butcher, my love for fitness is forever growing.

I used to train 6 times a week in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary and Acrobatics. I would say I was a very active individual growing up until I quit dancing due to my own personal struggles with Body Dysmorphia and unhealthy eating habits.

I quit dancing and it had the adverse affect as I started to get unhealthy by not exercising and going out with friends partying each weekend.

After a couple of years of this lifestyle I eventually found my love for training in the gym and eating well and I have never looked back.

In the process winning the Miss England Sports Round ! This was hosted by an ex marine Lee Stuart at the Heart of England centre near Coventry .

Melissa with Ex Royal Marine – Lee Stuart!

Lee really put us through our paces it was tough!

In order for me to stay fit and healthy I really need to be fairly strict with myself!

I try and set myself a target of going to the gym/ exercising whether it be walking, running or fitness / weight training 5 times a week. Ensuring I have at least two days where I rest my body.

One tip from me with maintaining fitness goals and targets is to learn to have patience . Whilst remembering that everything takes time.  Set yourself small and realistic targets.

Everyone’s goals are different however it is important to stay motivated even on those dark mornings and evenings when you really don’t want to go to the gym!  Especially after a long day at work and all you want to do is throw your comfy’s on and eat comfort foods!!

Get up and get moving, even if it’s just a walk to get your steps in after work or a little jog round the block. Just get your body moving, and cut the excuses!!

My other tip is to workout no matter your mood.

Do it sad
Do it happy
Do it miserable
Do it tired
Do it angry
Do it heartbroken
Do it excited
Do it energised

Do it anyway…

Because no matter what you’re feeling, you will always always always feel better after moving your body.

Healthy body, healthy mind.
